Biosketch
Education
Dr. Larry Kerschberg received his Ph.D in Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and a B.Sc. with honors, in Engineering Science from Case Institute of Technology.
Current Position
Dr. Larry Kerschberg is President of KRM, Inc., a Commonwealth of Virginia corporation dedicated to advancing Knowledge Management concepts, tools and techniques in Industry and Government.
He is also Professor of Computer, Information and Software Engineering and Director of the E-Center for E-business in the Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering (IT&E) at George Mason University (Mason).
He is Director of the MS in E-Commerce Program at Mason.
Dr. Kerschberg chaired the Department of Information and Software Engineering at Mason from 1989 to 1997.
Research
He is a Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and in 1998 he spent ten weeks at Kyoto University, working with the late Professor Yahiko Kambayashi.
Dr. Kerschberg's research focuses on agent-based systems, knowledge management, E-Commerce, large-scale systems engineering, information architectures, intelligent search, semantic web, and data mining and knowledge discovery in databases.
Dr. Kerschberg enjoys the synergy of taking academic ideas and working with government and industry to turn them into products and systems.
Correspondingly, he takes lessons learned from consulting and brings them into his classroom teaching.
